Proled – Drone Project

The Proled Drone aims to be an operational tool supporting the digitalization of the overhead electrical line design workflow.

The Proled Drone for Technical Inspection of Electrical Infrastructure
One of the primary application scenarios involves technical inspection and asset onboarding of low- and medium-voltage line poles, designed for the complete digitization of overhead electrical infrastructure. In this context, the drone is used to perform systematic surveys of poles, spans, and structural elements, acquiring geometric, visual, and, where applicable, LiDAR data directly in the field.
The data collected by the Proled Drone is uniquely associated with each individual pole and its corresponding line section, serving as the foundational dataset for powering the ProLED software. The workflow mirrors the established ProLED model used for designing and verifying electrical networks: survey, data refinement, pole definition, span connection, and mechanical verification.
The Digital Twin
The integration between the Proled Drone and ProLED enables the creation of a Digital Twin of the electrical network, in which every low- and medium-voltage pole is surveyed, georeferenced, and defined through a structured set of technical information. The data remains strictly contained within the ProLED infrastructure, following a controlled and traceable workflow that preserves information integrity and ensures long-term consistency.
The Proled Drone thus becomes an operational tool supporting the digitization of the overhead electrical line design workflow, contributing to advanced distribution network management and the continuous updating of low- and medium-voltage infrastructure, aligned with ProLED’s principles of GIS integration, rapid design, and data streamlining.
Payload Configuration: Payload Versions and Surveillance Capabilities
The Proled Drone is configured as a versatile platform for surveillance, territorial reconnaissance, and tracking activities. It can be integrated with an LQ Full-HD gimbal, 3-axis stabilized, ensuring high-quality video and photographic acquisition even under complex operating conditions.
  • Multi-spectral sensors: Visible and infrared sensors for day and night operations under any environmental conditions
  • Advanced optical zoom: Up to 12x optical zoom in the visible spectrum for capturing details at significant distances
  • Thermal capability: Up to 8x zoom on thermal imaging for detection and identification in low-visibility conditions
  • Digital zoom: 9x digital zoom for further magnification and in-depth target analysis
This configuration enables the acquisition of detailed, stable images even in complex operating environments, supporting reconnaissance missions, perimeter monitoring, emergency support operations, and territorial oversight. The 3-axis stabilization guarantees smooth, precise footage even during dynamic maneuvers or atmospheric turbulence.
